A warm welcome back to our members and a special welcome to the new members who have joined us since the club restarted after the summer break.

We are also now in the fortunate position to have a new head coach within the club, Marie Cheyne, who joined us at the start of the new session.  If anyone would like to contact Marie her email address is

Marie is in the process of trying to organise a Level 1 coaching course to be held at our own pool, possibly early December – if you are interested please contact Marie asap.

October Break

The Wednesday club night continues over the October school holidays.
There are no other additional training sessions unless you have been advised otherwise by your coach.

Normal training resumes Monday 29th at 4.30pm (no early morning session due to secondary school in service day) for all groups.

We would like to congratulate Darren Ritchie for being selected to swim for North Scotland in the next Intercounties Meet at Sheffield.

This is the 3rd consecutive year Darren has been selected – good luck and well done!

Live results can usually be found on the British Swimming website.

Scottish Schools

The annual Scottish Schools Championships will be held on Saturday 26th January 2013 in East Kilbride.

The trials are planned for Thursday 15th Nov at Peterhead Swimming Pool 10.30am warm up – entries are done via your school but we will be contacting you individually if you are eligible for the trials.

Poolside Help

Many thanks to the new parents who have turned up poolside to help – without enough volunteers the club can not continue.

Pool Closures

The pool had to close unfortunately last Wednesday night and also on Friday morning 28th Sept.  Fees for both these sessions will be deducted from the next block of fees where applicable.

Training Sessions

If for any reason you can not attend your training session please ensure you let your coach know.  If you require a contact number for your coach please ask them.

If anyone is interested in attending the next Judge 1 course please let me know so that I can make the necessary arrangements.

The next Judge 1 workshop is being held at Bridge of Don pool on the 6th November at 7pm.

If you would like more information or just a general chat on what is involved please let me know.

Please also check Peterhead Swimming Club face book page regularly for any updates.

We do appreciate that swimming is new to many of you and there is lots to learn, please feel free to ask any questions you may have at any time. I am usually around on a Wednesday night from approx 6pm (Linda)

Peterhead ASC has joined North Aberdeenshire Swimming Team.  This is a new composite team which has been formed with Ythan, Broch Seals, Huntly and Banff.

Club Wear

The new swim suits have arrived and are available at the desk on a Wednesday night – we only have a selection of sizes available but any size can be ordered.  Both Jammers and Swimsuits cost £12.00 each.  We also have a stock of Speedsocket Goggles at £13.50 each.

Any other club kit requirements can be discussed with Irene Cook.

We were very fortunate to gain support from “Chep” towards the cost of our swimming caps – these are available at a reduced cost of £3.00 per cap.

Changing Rooms

Unfortunately, there have also been several complaints about the behaviour in the changing rooms, please remember your Code of Conduct that ALL members signed when they joined the club!

Also please ensure that ALL clothes are removed from cubicles and placed in lockers.  The public also have access to the changing area on a Wednesday night and need access to the changing cubicles.  In the past there have been items removed from cubicles so it is also safer to lock everything away!

Scottish Schools Championships 2012

The championships are now being held on Saturday 28th November in East Kilbride due to Tollcross pool being closed.

I have arranged the trials for Thursday 17th November at Peterhead Swimming Pool – if you have the qualifying times you will be contacted by your PE teacher or Dianne/Linda to enter primary school swimmers.

We try to raise funds at our club championship evenings by selling raffles etc – we would welcome any donations for prizes.

Please see Nicola Angus or Linda Herbert if you can help out.

Check out the following websites:-

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who continues to volunteer within the club, parents and grandparents who continue to turn up week after week to ensure the club runs as smoothly as possible.

Our AGM is not until early in March but if you would like more information please ask Linda at the desk – we would be delighted to have you onboard!

Peterhead Amateur Swimming Club.

Congratulations to Kelsey Cook who has been selected to represent "West/North" Scotland in the UK School Games in Sheffield in September.

Peter Hyman (15) and Kelsey Cook (15) represented Peterhead ASC in the Scottish National Age Groups 2010 at Tollcross in Glasgow during the Easter break.  Tollcross is a 10 lane, 50m swimming arena where top swimmers from near and far compete.
Achieving entry times for this level of competition is a marvellous achievement on its own and despite the lack of pool time available Kelsey Cook secured a place in the finals for 200m Butterfly and in her main event 100m Butterfly.  Lying 5th at the half way mark Kelsey swam a brilliant final 50m to finish in 3rd place and claimed the bronze medal.  Peter swam a good race in the 100m breast and achieved a new personal best time of 1.18.52 LC.
